Hi everyone! This is a
sort of general update on the formation of ASDI, Inc. regional clubs. We are working on
getting these going in order to make the local breed support & activities envisioned
by the presence of national regional directors a reality. As some of you may know, UKC is
very much a "grass roots" sort of organization; so if ASDI members want their
breed club to have activities (obedience, agility, conformation, etc.) available to them
in their area, they need to get involved in their local chapter to organize and promote
these events. Several board members have already begun this process - if you are
interested in getting involved in your area, please contact your local board member for
more information. Below is a complete list of ASDI, Inc. board members, and their e-mail
addresses or phone numbers.

If you've been looking for goodies that feature the Anatolian in the
design, we got new T-shirts and jewelry on the Anatolian Bazaar
page, and more items will be added in the near future. Sales of some items will be used to
help support the spay and neuter of rescued Anatolians. We are also taking orders for
comb-bound booklets (brochures) featuring information about the breed with some of the
information from these pages and articles from the Choban Chatter. Information will be
added as it becomes available.
A couple new stories. One about what it is like to live with an
Anatolian named Gus and another which is an article concerning color
genetics in the Anatolian. Some of the information may be
helpful in predicting puppy colors if enough is known about the parents of a
litter. Also, if you are looking for that perfect name for your Anatolian, there is a link
to a list of Mediterranean names with their meanings,
many of which are Turkish.
A book review from Choban
Chatter of Col. David Hancock's The Heritage of the Dog
helps us to focus on the honor due to the working heritage and historic purpose of our
Anatolians.
A few side trips to Turkey have been
added. History, food, culture, travel, and other exploring at your fingertips.
Information about dog shows can be found on the Events
page as well as an announcement about the 1997 ASDI National
Specialty.
If you've been wondering about registering your Anatolian with UKC -
information on requirements, long term advantages of UKC registration, what makes the ASDI
registry different than other Anatolian registries, and/or if you are looking for a point
of contact for your questions about UKC registration, see our Registration
page.
Thinking about becoming a member of ASDI? We now have an application available which can be printed out and mailed to the
club. Ownership of an Anatolian is not necessary for subscribing to the club newsletter,
the Choban Chatter.
Anatolian Rescue!
There are always periodic updates for the rescue page. Our Rescue
Coordinator, Pam Kernan has a full page message for all those
that would like to assist in Anatolian rescue. If you are interested in providing a foster
home (temporary), or adopting an Anatolian in need of a home, or if you know of an
Anatolian that is in dire straits and needs to be placed in a new home, please see her
message and contact her.
